Daryl has been a Rotarian for 34 years, having been a member of two other clubs. In 2004 he became a Charter Member of our Rotary Club at Rowville-Lysterfield.
He has held many Club roles, notably being President three times, twice at Rowville-Lysterfield. He has also held roles at District level including being District 9810 Governor for 2021-2022, and the MC for numerous Conferences and events. Daryl is currently the District 9815 Chair of Youth Service, overseeing our District’s 10 Youth programs which involve people from primary school age to young adults.
Daryl’s passion in Rotary is Youth Programs and he has helped found many Earlyact Clubs (Rotary in Primary Schools) and Interact Clubs (Rotary in Secondary Schools). He has been instrumental in the organization of a yearly Interact District Assembly Day each year for the last 15 years, providing leadership skills and networking opportunities for hundreds of Interactors from across Melbourne.
A retired educator and former head of school, he is a committee member of Military History & Heritage Victoria (MHHV). In addition to being a published author in the field, Daryl has convened and addressed numerous military history conferences.
Since becoming a Charter Member of this Club in 2024, Murray has taken on a whole range of roles, both within the Club and the Rotary District. He has been Club President twice, in 2006-2007 and 2021-2022, was Secretary for 9 years, Vice President for two years and served on the Club’s Board for 16 of his 20 years as a member. He has been Foundation Chair and On-To-Conference Chair for a year each and served on the District Conference Committee as Secretary in 2021-2022. Within the District, Murray has served as the Rotarians Against Malaria D9810 Supervisor in 2023-2024 and then in the new District 9815 became a Rotary Community Leader for 2024-2026, with a role of guiding 13 Rotary Clubs towards joint projects and support for each other’s activities. All his wealth of experience will be put to good use as he is now on a journey to becoming the District Governor for District 9815 in 2027-2028.
Apart from Rotary, Murray leads a very busy life as a Bail Justice, since 2004, and a Justice of the Peace since 2021. He learnt much about leadership with time in the Army Reserve, where he rose to the rank of Captain and gained the Defence Medal. He has been very involved in supporting local football and cricket clubs in roles such as Ferntree Gully & District Cricket Association President and is currently Head Trainer and Life Member at Rowville Football Club. He has also been on local School Councils for a total of 13 years.
He is now retired from his job as a Retirement Living Manager, with a little more time to enjoy family life with his wife, four children and two grandchildren.
Heather has a history of community service throughout her early adult years, being a member of Box Hill Rotaract for 3 years and then becoming a member of Jaycees for 15 years. In this organisation she enjoyed the fellowship and chance to be of service. The most exciting aspect of these years was being named as ‘Jaycee of the Year’ at Club, District, State of Victoria, nationally for Australia and at World level. Heather was also selected as the only Australian delegate to attend an international Conference in Japan.
Heather joined the Rotary Club of Rowville Lysterfield in 2013 and has held a range of positions within the club, being President 2016-2017. As Secretary for the last six years, she has shown a high level of efficiency and a breadth of knowledge of the governance issues pertinent to running an effective club. She has also been the prime mover for a number of fundraising events, particularly the Girls Night Out, which over seven years has raised around $30,000 for research into various women’s cancers. For the last two years she has been the Bunnings BBQ co- coordinator, an event which again brings in significant funds to finance the Club’s projects; she is now closely involved with the organisation of the Makers and Bakers Market.
Heather has retired from her career as a Primary School teacher but still returns for a CRT day now and then to keep in touch with the community of her last school. She is married with one daughter and two granddaughters, who she adores.
Neil was a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Rowville and in the time since has held many roles both within the Club and at District level. In many of these roles, Neil’s expertise and experience in accounting and running a business have been of great benefit. He has been District Treasurer for 2 years and Treasurer of various district sub-committees such as the District Conference Committee. At Club level he has been Foundation Chair for a number of years, keeping Club members abreast of the importance of the work of The Rotary Foundation. He has been Club Treasurer for over 10 years and has managed the Club finances and guided the Club Board with wisdom and skill. He was President of the Club in the year 2013-2014. One of Neil’s biggest achievements in Rotary was guiding the formation of a Satellite Club as a business network club in 2011. This Club was ground-breaking in the way it introduced the concept of meeting at a different time and in a different way and is a model being explored by many Rotary Clubs at the present time.
Neil has retired from business and enjoys spending time with wife Michelle and the extended family. In recent years they have travelled to many parts of the world, including Africa, plus they spend about half the year at their holiday property in the northern beaches area of Sydney.
In the 12 years that Alan has been a member of this Rotary Club, he has made an enormous contribution to the activities of the Club and to the community at large.
Alan has a vast array of talents, particularly in the digital sphere. At the start of his working life, he was a Technician with the ABC but in time formed his own IT company with clients including Marriner Theatres and Windsor Smith Shoes. With such a range of experience Alan is our technical expert in the Club, ensuring that the technology we use is first rate and being the first port of call to solve computer hardware issues. In addition, he has a fine eye for graphic design, being an accomplished photographer, and produces many of the flyers, sponsorship booklets and posters for Club activities.
Alan has taken on many roles within the Club and the Rotary District, including being the D9815 RAWCS representative and Deputy Chair of International Service for D9815. He was Club President 2018-2019 and has been International Chair for many years. In the latter role he has developed expertise at writing successful grant submissions, which have resulted in funding for projects such as installing solar panels on the rooftop of a school in Uganda. Alan also has great perseverance, as exhibited when a container was refurbished for a local charity; a task that took many more hours of physical labour than was anticipated. Alan was determined that the job would be completed and done well. He is always ready to volunteer to turn sausages at a BBQ, to be a judge at the Art Show, or whatever contribution will help the Club fulfill its goals.
Alan is well supported by wife Robyn and enjoys the company of family, including two grandchildren.
Cheryl has been a member of Rotary for 8 years. In her work life, Cheryl has been a Primary School teacher. Cheryl trained as a ‘Special Education’ Teacher, teaching children with disabilities. Cheryl later transferred to mainstream education at Scotch College and taught there for many years, coordinating the education programs for children requiring extra learning support and leading a team of ‘Education Support’ staff.
Since Cheryl’s retirement, at the close of 2025, Cheryl has filled her ‘extra time’ with Rotary. She is the current Club Youth Chair and has taken a keen interest in our Earlyact Club at Park Ridge Primary School. Cheryl has visited the Earlyact Club several times already - awarding leadership badges to the Earlyact Executive and participating in their fundraising activities, such as the whole school Teddy Bear Picnic, which raised $1300 to buy sporting equipment for a school in Uganda.
Cheryl has also been involved in meetings with Principals at two other local schools with the possibilities of further Earlyact Clubs.
Cheryl is married to Kevin. They have three sons and four grandchildren who they love to spend time with.
Travelling is another passion of Cheryl’s and with Kevin, she has enjoyed several overseas trips. Cheryl spends the time before the next trip, learning some of the language.
Over his 15 years with the club, Kevin has been an energetic and invaluable member. Serving as President during the 2015–2016 and 2022–2023 terms, he steered us through periods of great achievement, with a particular impact on our overseas projects. The club has benefited immensely from Kevin’s professional expertise in design, signage, printing, and uniforms, alongside his incredible generosity with his time. Whether tackling demanding physical tasks or transporting essential event gear like BBQs and marquees, Kevin is always the first to volunteer.
A passionate advocate for our mission, Kevin’s determination to share the value of Rotary with the community shines through. His enthusiastic promotion has welcomed many new faces to our ranks, effectively fulfilling his ongoing role as Membership Chair.
Kevin's dedication is a family affair; he has been wonderfully supported over the years by his wife, Cheryl. Now that Cheryl has retired and stepped into a Board role within the club, Kevin is right there returning the favor with his full support.
Outside of Rotary, Kevin is a passionate Collingwood supporter who loves soaking up the atmosphere at the MCG. He also enjoys travel, fine dining, and spending quality time with family. Together, Kevin and Cheryl share three sons and six grandchildren. They cherish every moment spent with family, especially when it includes a trip to sunny Queensland to visit loved ones—which they consider the ultimate bonus!
